2018: Where It All Began
A Chance Meeting at Waterloo
Jonathan and Samir first crossed paths during their co-op term at Microsoft while studying at the University of Waterloo. Despite working on different teams, they bonded over a shared dream of building something meaningful.
"We were just two ambitious students with big ideas," recalls Jonathan. "We'd spend hours talking about how technology could solve real-world problems in industries that hadn't yet embraced digital transformation."
2018-2024: Different Paths
Pursuing Our Passions
After graduation, their paths diverged. Samir pursued a career in tech, diving deep into sales and real estate at leading companies. Jonathan was drawn to entrepreneurship, eventually finding his way into the AI industry where he witnessed firsthand the administrative challenges small businesses faced.
"I saw businesses spending more time on paperwork than with clients. These businesses were crying out for innovation, but nobody was listening."
Though their careers took them in different directions, they stayed in touch, occasionally sharing ideas and insights from their respective industries.
2024: The Reunion
A Vision Takes Shape
A few years after they first meeting, Jonathan reached out to Samir with an idea. Over coffee, Jonathan shared his frustrations with the small businesses' outdated processes. Samir immediately saw how AI could transform the real estate industry's challenges.
"It was one of those moments where everything clicked," Samir remembers. "I understood the problem deeply, and Jonathan knew he could build the solution. We stayed up all night sketching out what would become myAIssistant."
Within months, they had assembled a team, secured initial funding, and built their first prototype. The response from early testers was overwhelming—they knew they were onto something that could truly transform the industry.
